Dealing Opponents Who Never Fold

If you are playing a low-limit home tourney, you are likely to come across a player who “never folds”. In other words, you can term this guy as the player who “always calls”.

This signifies that this player would call no matter what type of hand he has got. He would not raise or bet but on the contrary, he would always call in all types of bets. Now, with this player around, you do not have any chance of making bluffs and steal the pot.

Thankfully, these types of players don’t stick around the game for too long. As they are always a loser, they fade out soon. As he is predictable, players intentionally bet so that they take away his chips. You need to do the same as well.

For this, you need to first isolate the guy who never folds pre-flop. If you miss flop, check again. All you would try to do is to get the chips before someone else takes it away. Such weak players are always in the neighbourhood, and you need to identify them for your benefit.

How would you differentiate a “calling station” from a “guy who always calls”? It is easy when you watch the moves the players intuitively. Calling stations would fold at the river if they do not have a good hand to deal with the bet. The second type of guy would call at all times.

Though you might wait for few moves or play conservatively initially to get the feel of the game, it is better to act as soon as possible to isolate such players. The basic idea is to get the chips and also prevent other good players from acquiring chips.

Some experts say that it is better to contradict with what you normally do in poker. This would not allow your opponents to get a feel of what move you would take in a game.
